If you want to change the world (and we certainly do!), you should invest in a young person. We believe God has given each young person the potential to do great things as they grow in their faith. It is so exciting to see young people develop leadership skills so that they may learn to fully represent Jesus in all they do. We have known the privilege of investing in young people through youth programs in the US and around the world. Within the US, we are currently providing leadership training and spiritual formation for school age children and young adults in their young twenties.
Every child should know that they have value and purpose. But not every child has been given the same opportunities. If you grew up as an orphan, you would naturally struggle with your identity and purpose. We find great joy in partnering with orphan ministries who teach every young person that they are precious to God and have a future. We have seen many of these orphan children grow up to be great leaders for the Lord. As a missionary to orphans in her home country of Romania, Vio spent many hours sharing the Gospel and investing in future leaders. Today she continues to coach and counsel these orphans who are now young adults so that they may continue to grow in their faith and leadership.
Through many trips to Kenya, we have directly seen the urgent need for food, shelter, and God’s love for orphans. There are over 3 million orphan children in Kenya alone and no government programs to support them. We are working with Mully Children’s Family and Valley Light in Kenya to help meet these needs for today and develop leaders for tomorrow.
The Valley Light Orphan Home provides for orphans who do not have any parents or relatives alive to take them in. Without this ministry, most of these children would have died alone while trying to survive on the streets of Kenya under circumstances that we do not want to imagine. Until recently, Valley Light received all of their funding through a well known ministry connected to Ravi Zacharias. When that ministry closed, we volunteered to help Valley Light replace the lost funding and organize their US operations.
Mully Children’s Family is providing food, shelter, education, and spiritual training in 6 different locations around Kenya for over 4,900 children today. We have supported this ministry for the last 2 decades because it is so effective with our giving and service. These young children grow up to be faithful disciples of Jesus sharing the Gospel in their various vocations around Kenya, as well as in other nations where the Lord leads them.
These ministries in Kenya will provide more than the basic food and shelter needed for today. They provide counseling to overcome the trauma the children have experienced. They also provide an excellent education and life training so that the older orphans will not have to return to living on the streets when they age out of their orphan home. Best of all, many of these orphans will grow up and become powerful testimonies of Jesus. As a result of your investment in these ministries, you will participate in the spiritual fruit God brings about both today and for the rest of their lives as you become a living part of their many testimonies!
